Job summary

Kratos Defense & Rocket Support Services, Inc. seeks a Facility/Instrumentation Engineer to help design, integrate, and commission a new arc jet facility (Project Helios) and support the Hypersonics department's flow diagnostics effort.

The role includes instrument/control strategy development, data acquisition, and collaboration with the Helios Project Manager to coordinate scheduling, risk, and test planning. Requires DoD security clearance eligibility and a strong research background.

Responsibilities

• Support design, integration, and commissioning of a new arc jet facility (facility design, planning, qualification).
• Develop instrumentation and control strategies for high-enthalpy facilities including data acquisition and facility software.
• Coordinate interface documentation, scheduling, and risk with project leadership.
• Characterize facility performance using intrusive and non-intrusive diagnostics (e.g., laser diagnostics).
• Plan material testing across internal and external facilities; contribute to technical proposals for DoD, NASA, and commercial opportunities.
• Lead or contribute to technical report composition and stay current with state-of-the-art in aerothermodynamics and diagnostics.
