Job summary

North Wind in Ronkonkoma, NY seeks a Propulsion System Analysis Engineer to perform steady‑state and transient modeling of high‑speed propulsion systems, supporting design, integration, and ground and flight testing. You will develop physics‑based design and analysis tools, analyze airbreathing flowpaths with complex shocks, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Strong programming skills (Python, MATLAB/Simulink, Fortran, or C++) and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in high-speed airbreathing propulsion or equivalent.
• Experience with ramjet and scramjet design and analysis.”

Responsibilities

• Support propulsion system design and analysis tasks using classical propulsion cycle code methods.
• Develop new physics-based design and analysis tools for propulsion system components and technologies.
• Analyze internal flows of airbreathing propulsion flowpaths with high-speed systems and complex shock/boundary layer interactions.
• Develop and recommend design solutions to optimize propulsion performance and operability.
• Prepare clear technical documentation, analysis summaries, and presentations for reviews and stakeholders.
