Job summary

InMaricopa and InBuckeye are seeking curious, versatile journalists to cover local government, public safety, business, education, growth and development, and community events across multiple platforms. The role emphasizes storytelling through reporting, photography, and digital media.

The ideal candidate is an early-career reporter or experienced journalist who can work independently, develop sources, and expand InMaricopa’s visual storytelling and online presence.

Qualifications

• Strong reporting, interviewing and writing skills.
• Familiarity with AP style.
• Independently manage multiple assignments and adapt to changing priorities.
• Photography experience required.
• Video shooting and editing experience a plus.
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva or similar tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Report and write accurate, engaging stories for digital publication.
• Cover city government, public safety, business, schools, community events and breaking news.
• Develop sources and generate original story ideas.
• Attend public meetings and community events.
• Capture high-quality photos to accompany stories, galleries and special projects.
• Produce short-form video content for digital and social media platforms when appropriate.
• Assist with social media storytelling and audience engagement.
• Meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy, fairness and strong news judgment.
