Job Description

The Hypergolic Propulsion Engineer - Space Systems will support the JETS II contract in Houston, TX.

Responsibilities
  • Reports to NASA JSC EP4 Propulsion Systems Branch.
  • Design and develop major elements of ground test and space flight systems to demonstrate hypergolic propulsion and fluid systems.
  • Certify components and systems, considering design impacts and operating environments.
  • Support US and international customers, including space agencies, visiting vehicles, and Commercial Crew.
  • Write technical and progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Resolve unique or novel problems related to Hypergolic Propulsion Subsystems.
  • Assist in flight Anomaly Resolution and In-Flight Investigation reviews, solving propulsion issues with limited information.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Residency due to security requirements.
  • Experience in the space industry or DoD.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • At least 2+ years in hypergolic propulsion or related fields.
  • Over 5 years of spacecraft propulsion experience, focusing on mechanical aspects.
  • Experience with design, assembly, testing, certification, and operation of hypergolic propulsion systems.
  • Coordination of propulsion system requirements verification and validation.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical system design, engineering drawings, material selection, and testing.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Confidence in discussing hypergolic propulsion topics with experts.
Preferred Skills
  • Familiarity with JSC organizations, processes, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of NASA JSC Engineering Life Cycle process.
Work Details
  • Onsite location.
  • 9/80 work schedule, every other Friday off.
  • Potential travel requirements.

  • Background checks and security clearance may be required.
  • Pre-employment drug screening and periodic testing may be required.
