Job summary

University of South Florida seeks a Hyperbaric Safety Officer to lead daily hyperbaric operations, ensuring safe chamber function and compliance with NFPA 99, UHMS, FDA IND, and IRB standards. The role serves as the safety authority on duty and collaborates with the Safety Director to optimize workflows for research, education, and patient care.

Required: bachelor's degree in health/technical field, CHT/CHS, UHMS safety director training, and at least 2 years in hyperbaric settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in health/technical field and CHt/CHS credentials required.
• Completion of UHMS-approved Hyperbaric Safety Director course; BLS/ACLS certification preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of hyperbaric experience.

Responsibilities

• Independently operate and oversee hyperbaric chambers for clinical care and research as a primary patient-facing technician.
• Shift Leadership & Mentorship: lead technicans on shift and mentor staff in safety procedures.
• Emergency Preparedness and Incident Response: direct emergencies, drills, and incident command as needed.
• Safety Audits and Compliance Monitoring: conduct audits and enforce corrective actions.
• Equipment Oversight: perform preventive maintenance checks and coordinate repairs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
