Job Summary: Under the supervision of the HBO Technician, provides hyperbaric oxygen therapy to all referred patients, administers and monitors oxygen therapy, and works collaboratively with other disciplines at the assigned center.
Primary Functions:
- Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
- Prepares all patients referred for treatment.
- Monitors patients' condition and recognizes changes requiring intervention.
- Documents all care provided accurately and completely according to hospital and department policies, entering all treatment notes into the appropriate systems.
- Provides patient and family education, including assessment of learning needs, ability, and readiness to learn; documents teaching activities; and provides instruction as appropriate.
- Collaborates with other clinical disciplines in developing the care plan.
- Operates, maintains, and cleans the hyperbaric chamber as required.
- Demonstrates and maintains competency in core and unit-specific clinical skills; maintains necessary certifications and continuing education.
- In the absence of the front desk coordinator, schedules and registers patients for HBO therapy or wound care visits using provided software, in accordance with hospital policies.
- Participates in department quality improvement initiatives and assists in data collection for quality assurance and education.
- Adheres to patient safety and infection control procedures outlined in the hospital's safety manual.
- Uses hospital resources, supplies, and equipment appropriately.
- Complies with HIPAA, privacy, and confidentiality policies and procedures.
- Performs duties as directed by the Program Director/Coordinator within scope of practice and other assigned duties.
- Prior experience with wound care patients is preferred.
- Possesses basic skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); prior experience with electronic medical records is preferred.
- Holds valid and current CPR certification from AHA, EMT, or related; LPN certification in the state of employment; CHT certification preferred.
- Completes an approved hyperbaric oxygen therapy course within one year.
- Requires at least 1 year of employment in an outpatient department.
- Occasional travel to other centers may be required; schedule flexibility and overtime may be necessary to meet patient needs.
