AmeriCorps VISTA at the HYPE Center in Dallas, TX seeks a Community Engagement & Communications Specialist VISTA to expand outreach and partnerships. This in-person role supports justice-involved youth and emerging adults 16–24 by improving access to education, employment, and supportive services.

Job description

LSJA works to address systemic failures in the justice system through advocacy and evidence-based programs that improve life outcomes for justice-involved youth and emerging adults ages 16–24 in Dallas who are disconnected from education and employment. To promote recovery and prevent recidivism, justice-involved opportunity youth need appropriate therapy, education and career training provided through community-based interventions. LSJA’s initiatives utilize evidence-based best practices to engage, redirect and rehabilitate those who have been chronically disengaged and mistreated. The HYPE Center serves as a reengagement hub designed to connect these young people with education, workforce, and supportive services.

Member Duties

The Lone Star Justice Alliance HYPE Center Community Engagement & Communications Specialist VISTA will build the long-term capacity of the HYPE Center by strengthening outreach systems, developing communications infrastructure, and expanding community partnerships that increase awareness and engagement with justice-involved youth and emerging adults ages 16–24 in Dallas. Research and develop a database of community organizations, schools, workforce partners, and local stakeholders to expand outreach partnerships. Develop youth-friendly informational materials and digital content that clearly communicate the services and opportunities available through the HYPE Center. Develop tools and systems to document partner engagement and collaborative activities. This position will be fully in-person.
