Job summary

OCS is seeking a Cleaning Manager/Supervisor in Newark, NJ to lead hygiene teams and ensure continuous standards. The role requires coordinating tasks, coaching staff, and maintaining precise training records while working within budget constraints.

The candidate will engage with store representatives daily to resolve issues, prioritize safety, and drive service excellence in a fast-paced retail facilities environment.

Qualifications

• Experience as Cleaning Manager or Supervisor.
• Experience in staffing, rotas, training, and basic HR compliance.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and be flexible with working hours/days.

Responsibilities

• Monitor hygiene teams to maintain continuous standards.
• Allocate tasks to cleaning staff per site requirements.
• Maintain high standards by reviewing work and improving where needed.
• Recruit and coach the cleaning team and foster development.
• Communicate daily with store representatives to resolve issues.
• Manage budgets for equipment, stock and rota planning.
• Lead inductions covering health and safety training and expectations.
• Ensure training records align with company policies.
• Handle grievances or welfare matters with HR support.
• Report sickness and manage absence levels accurately.
• Deliver an effective and efficient service to customers.

• Allocate tasks and responsibilities to the cleaning team to meet site requirements.
• To maintain high standards by monitoring the work completed and making any changes for improvement
• Recruit and coach the cleaning team to achieve best results by having open and continuous conversations together for development
• Communicate daily with store representatives to resolve issues and build positive working relationships.
• Maintain budgets for use of all equipment, stock and on rota planning.
• Lead colleague inductions covering health and safety training and role expectations
• Ensure all employee training is recorded in line with company policies
• Handle grievance, disciplinary or welfare matters as required with the support of the area management team and HR.
• Accurately report sickness and ensure absence levels are managed correctly
• Other duties reasonably expected to deliver an effective and efficient service to our customer

Role Requirements

• You must have right to work in the UK.
• Previous experience as a Cleaning Manager or Supervisor is desirable or ability to lead the team
• Experience in staffing, rotas, training, and basic HR compliance is desirable
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise as well as being flexible with working hours and days
• Excellent attention to detail is required.
