Lane & Associates Family Dentistry in Sanford, NC is hiring a Hygiene Assistant to support our hygienists with clerical duties, clinical tasks, and chart accuracy to enhance patient care. Daily duties include stocking rooms, welcoming patients, updating medical histories, taking blood pressure, documenting procedures, maintaining a clean lab, and assisting with recalls and scheduling.

Requirements: High School Diploma or GED, NC X-ray Certification, DAI Certification, and the ability to lift

• Ability to lift 15–20 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Stock treatment rooms and keep them disinfected and organized.
• Greet patients and introduce the Hygiene Assistant role.
• Update medical history and record blood pressure as requested.
• Chart and document procedures; note next recommended treatment.
• Maintain a clean, organized lab and treatment rooms in collaboration with staff.
• Document patient conditions and histories; record procedures and comments.
• Reinforce hygienist-recommended treatments and home-care instructions.
• Assist with recalls and appointment scheduling.
• Perform routine tasks independently and support office operations.

At Lane & Associates Family Dentistry, we love to make our patients smile, and that starts with you! The Hygiene Assistant plays a key role in supporting our hygienists by handling patient-related clerical duties, assisting with clinical tasks, and maintaining chart accuracy. This position helps ensure the hygienist can work efficiently and provide exceptional patient care. Direct patient interaction may vary based on the hygienist’s needs, but the goal is for the Hygiene Assistant to actively contribute, grow their knowledge, and enhance the overall patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

Daily/Weekly/Monthly duties include, but are not limited to:

Ensure treatment rooms are properly stocked, disinfected, and set up for each appointment

Greet patients warmly and introduce your role

Update medical history and obtain blood pressure as requested by the hygienist

Chart and document all procedures performed; note next recommended treatment

Collaborate with clinical staff to maintain a clean, organized lab and treatment rooms

Document patient conditions, medical/dental history, procedures, and patient comments

Reinforce hygienist-recommended treatments and home-care instructions

Assist with managing the office recall system

Maintain inventory control in hygiene rooms and sterilize instruments

Participate in shared maintenance duties

Perform routine tasks independently

Assist with monitoring the schedule and confirming appointments as needed

Perform other duties as assigned
