Job summary

East Broad Family Dentistry, a part of Heartland Dental, is seeking a Hygiene Assistant to join the team. This entry-level role offers on-the-job training to develop dental assisting skills while supporting our hygiene providers and delivering excellent patient care.

Greet patients, review health history, assist with hygiene procedures, set up rooms, and use Dentrix for scheduling and records. On-site scheduling during M-F with rotating hours; TB testing required.

Qualifications

• On the job training and additional certification may be required based on state requirements.
• High school graduate or GED Equivalent.
• Team Player with strong communication and organization skills.
• HIPAA training and PHI safeguards required for role.

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome patients from the start of their dental journey and educate throughout treatment.
• Review patient health history to ensure quality care.
• Provide assistance to hygienists during procedures.
• Set up and restock treatment rooms and supplies for hygiene visits.
• Utilize Dentrix for scheduling and record keeping.
• Follow safety protocols and OSHA & CDC guidelines.
• Collaborate with providers to maximize office workflow.

More About The Role

• Greet and welcome patients from the start of their dental journey, as well as sustain patient comfort and provide appropriate education throughout treatment.
• Conduct a thorough review of the patient’s health history to provide quality care.
• Provide superior assistance to supported hygienists during a wide variety of procedures in accordance with the state dental practice act.
• Assist with setting up rooms for all hygiene visits including stocking and restocking instruments and supplies
• Utilize Dentrix for patient scheduling and record keeping.
• Prepare treatment room with strict adherence to safety protocols and following OSHA & CDC recommendations
• Partner with the providers and team to follow office systems and maximize office workflow.

Minimum Qualifications

• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• The position will have access to minimum PHI necessary for performing job-related functions; regular HIPAA training, aligning with the specific role and responsibilities, will be required; and the individual will need to protect PHI and maintain data safeguards.
