Job summary

North American Dental Group at Whittaker Family Dental in Defiance, OH is seeking a Hygiene Assistant to support the dental team and ensure patient care. You will prepare patients for treatment, assist the hygienist and dentist, and maintain a clean, efficient operatory.

The ideal candidate has a Dental Assisting certification, radiography/X-ray and CPR, with 1–5 years of experience or fresh graduates are welcome.

Qualifications

• Dental assisting certification or equivalent required.
• Radiography/X-ray certification required.
• CPR certification required and up-to-date.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to the dental hygienist to prepare the room, seat patients, and document visits.
• Record and review patients' health history and complete forms under supervision.
• Educate patients on treatment plans and maintain oral health guidance.
• Maintain a fast-paced, professional environment with strong teamwork and patient relations.
• Communicate professionally, both orally and in writing, with a service-oriented approach.

Your Work Schedule

• Monday: 7:45am-5:00pm
• Tuesday: 7:45am-7:00pm
• Wednesday: 7:45am-7:00pm
• Thursday: 7:45am-5:00pm
• Every other Friday: 7:45am-2:00pm

Your Role as a Hygiene Assistant

As a Hygiene Assistant, you'll collaborate with our practice team to provide outstanding clinical support, ensuring patients receive the care they need. You'll prepare patients for treatment, assist the hygienist/dentist in restorative procedures, and maintain a high standard of care and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to the dental hygienist to prepare the room, seat patients, and take proper documentation of the patients visit
• Ability to record and review patients' health history, make chart entries under the direction of the Doctor or hygienist, and assures completion of all necessary forms and signatures needed
• Educate patients on their treatment plans as well as maintaining their oral health
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment possessing excellent interpersonal skills such as establishing positive relationships with our team and patients
• Ability to communicate professionally both orally and in writing with a service-oriented approach

What You'll Need to Succeed

• Dental Assisting Certification or prior on-the-job training.
• 1-5 years of experience preferred, but new graduates are welcome to apply.
• Radiography/X-Ray certification (state-specific).
• Current CPR certification.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
• A commitment to delivering exceptional service and patient education.
