Hygiene Assistants are responsible for patient clerical duties and charting maintenance. The role involves assisting the hygienist to improve efficiency and productivity, with patient interaction at the hygienist's discretion. The goal is for the hygiene assistant to become knowledgeable in their field to meet patient needs and support the hygienist.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities
  • Ensure treatment room is stocked, disinfected, and prepared for each appointment.
  • Greet patients and introduce the position.
  • Update health history and obtain blood pressure if required by the hygienist.
  • Chart and document all procedures, including patient conditions, histories, and comments.
  • Work with clinical staff to maintain lab and treatment rooms.
  • Expose digital radiographs.
  • Reinforce treatment recommendations.
  • Coordinate office recall system with the hygienist.
  • Maintain inventory and sterilize instruments.
  • Share maintenance duties as needed.
  • Perform routine work independently.
  • Assist in monitoring the schedule and confirming appointments, depending on workload.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
