Job summary

Dental Excellence of Bowling Green is seeking a Dental Hygiene Assistant to partner with dental hygienists and optimize daily clinical workflow. Reporting to the Practice Administrator, you will help ensure seamless patient transitions and maximize scheduling efficiency.

You will support patient care and chairside assistance, prepare medical histories, take vital signs, and help with radiographs while maintaining OSHA-compliant infection control and orderly sterilization of rooms.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and seat patients promptly, ensuring a warm, comfortable clinical experience.
• Update patient medical histories, record vital signs, and prepare comprehensive, accurate clinical notes.
• Capture high-quality dental radiographs in compliance with state radiology licensing requirements.
• Provide proactive chairside assistance to dental hygienists during patient treatments as required.
• Take accurate dental impressions, pour models, and manage basic laboratory workflows.

Mission of Sterile Tech

Reporting directly to the Practice Administrator, the Dental Hygiene Assistant plays a critical role in optimizing the daily clinical workflow. The mission of this position is to partner closely with dental hygienists to ensure seamless patient transitions, maximize scheduling efficiency, and proactively support clinical strategies that drive daily practice production.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care & Clinical Support

• Patient Experience: Welcome and seat patients promptly, ensuring a warm, comfortable, and outstanding clinical experience.
• Clinical Preparation: Efficiently update patient medical histories, record vital signs, and prepare comprehensive, accurate clinical notes.
• Diagnostic Imaging: Capture high-quality dental radiographs in strict compliance with state radiology licensing requirements.
• Chairside Assistance: Provide proactive clinical support and assistance to dental hygienists during patient treatments as required.
• Laboratory Operations: Take accurate dental impressions, pour models, and manage basic laboratory workflows.

Schedule Optimization & Administrative Growth

• Retention Scheduling: Schedule hygiene patients for their follow-up recare and continuing care appointments prior to checkout.
• Schedule Management: Collaborate closely with the front desk team to actively fill gaps and maintain an optimized hygiene schedule.
• Patient Education: Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and treatment plans to support informed dental care decisions.

Clinic Operations & Sterilization

• Operatory Management: Set up, break down, sanitize, and restock treatment rooms between patients to maintain efficient clinic flow.
• Infection Control: Clean, sterilize, and organize dental instruments following established safety and OSHA guidelines.
• Inventory Control: Monitor, order, and organize dental supplies to prevent shortages and keep the department properly stocked.
• Adaptability: Execute additional administrative or clinical duties as assigned to support seamless daily practice operations.
