Job summary

Chain Electric Company in Houston, TX is seeking a safety-focused Hydrovac Operator to operate vacuum trucks and related equipment for industrial cleaning, hydro excavation, waste removal, and environmental services at customer sites.

Duties include daily vehicle inspections, utility locating support, daylighting, potholing, trenching, and excavation, plus accurate paperwork and safety compliance; candidates must pass screenings and be able to work outdoors in various weather.

Qualifications

  • Valid CDL (Class A or B) with tanker endorsement preferred.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, evenings, and on-call rotations.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Knowledge of DOT and OSHA safety regulations.
  • Must pass drug screening, background check, and fit-for-duty requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate Hydrovac trucks and related vacuum excavation equipment
  • Perform utility locating support, daylighting, potholing, trenching, and excavation activities
  • Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle and equipment inspections
  • Complete required paperwork, safety documentation, and job reports accurately
  • Maintain equipment, tools, and vehicles in clean and professional condition
  • Follow all company, customer, DOT, OSHA, and site-specific safety requirements
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, customers, and crew members
  • Represent Chain Electric professionally on all job sites

Job Summary:

The motivated and safety-focused Hydrovac Operator is responsible for operating vacuum trucks and related equipment to perform industrial cleaning, hydro excavation, waste removal, and environmental services at customer sites. This role requires adherence to safety regulations, proper equipment handling, and strong communication skills.

Requirements
Essential Functions Statement(s)
  • Safely operate Hydrovac trucks and related vacuum excavation equipment
  • Perform utility locating support, daylighting, potholing, trenching, and excavation activities

  • Previous Hydrovac, Vacuum Truck, or Hydro Excavation experience preferred.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, evenings, and participate in on-call rotations as needed
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to travel for projects when required
  • Knowledge of DOT and OSHA safety regulations.
  • Strong work ethics and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs. and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Must pass drug screening, background check, and fit-for-duty requirements.
Education :

High School graduate or GED preferred.

Preferred Skills:
  • Hydro excavation experience.
  • Industrial cleaning or environmental services background.
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Confined space or HAZWOPER certification is a plus.
Certificates & Licenses:
  • Possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License - Class A
  • Pass and maintain DOT Medical Certification
