Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Process Engineer specialized in hydrometallurgy for our mining/metallurgical client near Welkom. You will optimize complex hydrometallurgical processes to maximize recovery and product quality, and drive improvements across leaching, solvent extraction, ion exchange, precipitation, and electrowinning.

You will develop flowsheets, mass balances, and equipment sizing, conduct pilot plant studies, and interpret data to validate designs while ensuring safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years hands-on process engineering experience with a focus on hydrometallurgy.
• Knowledge of leaching, solvent extraction, ion exchange, precipitation, and electrowinning.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and optimize hydrometallurgical processes for efficiency, yield, and cost.
• Develop and implement flowsheets, mass balances, and equipment sizing.
• Conduct pilot plant studies and interpret data to validate designs.
• Troubleshoot chemical reactions and solid-liquid separation issues.
• Develop process models using METSIM or similar tools.
• Ensure environmental and safety compliance in operations.
• Collaborate with metallurgists, chemists, and operators to hit targets.
• Prepare technical reports and process documentation.
