Placements24 is recruiting on behalf of a major mining and metals group for a Senior Chemical Hydrometallurgist Engineer to advance hydrometallurgical processes in Upington, Northern Cape. The role emphasizes leaching, solvent extraction, precipitation, and electrowinning, with leadership across projects and collaboration with geologists and operations teams in a hybrid setup.

You will design, optimize and scale processes, supervise pilots, develop PFDs and mass/energy balances, ensure safety

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Chemical/Metallurgical Engineering.
• 8+ years in hydrometallurgical design and operation.
• Experience in leaching, SX/EW, precipitation.
• Experience with process simulation software.

Responsabilités

• Design and optimize hydrometallurgical processes for extraction and recovery.
• Conduct laboratory and pilot-scale testing to evaluate feasibility and kinetics.
• Develop PFDs and mass/energy balances for hydrometallurgical circuits.
• Troubleshoot leaching, SX/EW, and precipitation circuits.
• Ensure process safety and environmental compliance throughout development and operation.
• Collaborate with geologists, metallurgists, and plant operations teams.
• Evaluate and select equipment for hydrometallurgical applications.
• Stay abreast of new technologies and advancements.
