Freeport-McMoRan Inc. in Arizona is seeking a skilled mechanical technician to diagnose, repair and maintain heavy equipment. You will work on haul trucks, loaders and other equipment, performing alignments, welding and preventive maintenance.

Candidates should have at least two years of relevant experience, strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to read blueprints and communicate in English. This role may require shift work in a 24/7 operation and potential progression opportunities within

• Two years’ experience in mechanical/maintenance crafts or equivalent education/experience in industrial repair.
• Complete academic and practical competencies and demonstrate mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to understand and apply English safety instructions and procedures.
• Ability to read and use blueprints and communicate clearly with the team.

Responsabilidades

• Diagnose, maintain and repair heavy equipment (haul trucks, loaders, motors).
• Remove, repair and install transmissions, engines, brakes and other components.
• Perform mechanical lubrication and preventative maintenance on hydraulic and power train systems.
• Prioritize repairs and manage work orders; inspect work area.
• Operate mobile equipment (cranes, forklifts, boom trucks).
• Welding (Carbon arc, Plasma, Mig, Tig, Stick) as required.
• Serve as Fill-in Supervisor and mentor other employees.
• Perform other duties as required.

What You Will Do

• Perform diagnostic, maintenance and repair of heavy equipment such as, but not limited to: Haul Trucks, Water Trucks, Rubber Tire and Track Dozers, Front-end Loaders, and Motor Graders.
• Perform the removal, repair and installation of transmissions, engines, breaks, differentials, pumps, motors, torque convertors, final drives and other heavy equipment systems or components.
• Perform mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance on machine systems such as: hydraulic, power train and engines.
• Prioritize and make decisions regarding equipment repair as needed.
• Responsible for maintaining work orders and performing work area inspections.
• Operate mobile equipment such as: Overhead cranes, forklifts, and boom trucks.
• Perform welding such as: Carbon arc, Plasma, Mig, Tig, and Stick.
• Perform as a Fill-in Supervisor as required.
• Train and mentor other employees.
• Perform other duties as required.

What You Bring To Freeport

• Two (2) years’ experience in mechanical/maintenance crafts (including welder, boilermaker, machinist or facility maintenance/construction) or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.
• Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required mechanical aptitude.
• HEM Diagnostic Mechanic I: Practical Skills Assessments defined in LOP.
• Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in English
• Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
• Ability to prioritize repairs and possess excellent decision-making skills
• Ability to troubleshoot machine systems
• Ability to work and effectively communicate with others
• Ability to read and use blueprints

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED

What We Offer You

The estimated pay range for this role is currently$27.00 - $36.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
