Job summary

The Bureau of Reclamation's Parker Dam Field Division in California seeks a Hydroelectric Mechanic to maintain, test, and repair hydroelectric and pumping equipment, ensuring safe and reliable operation.

Qualifications

• No substitution of education for experience for Federal Wage System (FWS) positions.

Responsibilities

• Maintains, tests, and repairs equipment in a hydroelectric powerplant and pumping stations.
• Overhauls, repairs, evaluates, and tests turbines, generators, motors, pumps, valves, and related equipment.
• Operates the Domestic Water Treatment Facility and collects grab samples for testing.
• Operates heavy equipment and performs welding as needed; rigs and moves heavy machinery.
• Uses drawings, specifications, and records to prepare work plans, hazard analyses, and permits.
