Job summary

Seattle City Light is seeking skilled journey-level Machinists to join the South Service Center in Seattle. You will maintain and repair hydroelectric generation and distribution equipment, read blueprints and schematics, and fabricate parts using lathes, mills, and other machine shop equipment.

Requires at least two years journey-level machinist experience (or four years supervised) and a Washington state driver's license.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years journey-level machinist experience or four years of machine work under supervision.
• Completion of a Machinist or Millwright apprenticeship is preferred.
• Experience interpreting blueprints and schematics.
• Experience with machining equipment including lathes, mills, radial drill presses and sharpeners.
• Familiarity with CMMS systems (e.g., WAMS).

Responsibilities

• Conduct preventive maintenance and overhaul hydroelectric generators and related equipment.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctioning powerhouse equipment and tools.
• Fabricate and manufacture parts per national standards.
• Prepare written activity and repair procedure reports.
• Inspect outside contractor work for quality and compliance.
• Operate and maintain overhead cranes and rigging equipment.
• Assist with design and fabrication of parts and prototypes.
