Job summary

Penn State University’s Applied Research Laboratory seeks a Fluids Machinery Engineer to join the Fluids Machinery Department. You will design, analyze, and test marine vehicle hydrodynamics and flight control concepts, supporting experiments in lab, wind/water tunnels, and field tests.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering; experience in fluids/aerodynamics.
  • Experience with flight dynamics and controls beyond undergrad coursework.
  • Demonstrated collaboration in multidisciplinary teams and effective communication.

Responsibilities

  • Design, assemble, and operate complex test articles and experiments at ARL facilities and field sites.
  • Analyze vehicle control concepts, flight dynamics, and external hydrodynamics/aerodynamics.
  • Provide SME in fluid dynamics within multidisciplinary teams on defined questions.
  • Perform hands-on preparation and execution of fluid dynamic experiments.
  • Present technical results and collaborate with engineers, researchers, and faculty.
