Position Overview:

This position is responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of the Winooski One Hydro Station. It involves coordinating all aspects of plant operation and electricity production in a safe, efficient, and environmentally sound manner.

Job Titles and Salary Range:

1. Hydro Generation Technician I: $64,916.80 - $106,412.80 annually ($31.21 - $51.16 hourly)
2. Hydro Generation Technician II: $61,276.80 - $100,443.20 annually ($29.46 - $48.29 hourly)
3. Hydro Generation Technician III: $53,414.40 - $87,588.80 annually ($25.68 - $42.11 hourly)

Burlington Electric is seeking to hire one Hydro Generation Technician. Applications for Technician II and III will also be considered for this opening.

Remote work: Tier 1 (Zero days remote per week)

Union Affiliation: International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW)

Essential Job Functions:

• Operate control room equipment for turbines, generators, dam controls, and other power systems.
• Inspect, monitor, and operate station equipment to ensure proper functioning.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding fishing, flow conditions, and quality control.
• Follow lock-out/tag-out procedures for safe operation of breakers, as per BED’s Accident Prevention Manual.
• Monitor personnel access and maintain lubrication systems.
• Keep records of operational parameters, checklists, and reports.
• Notify personnel of unusual occurrences or problems.
• Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
• Train shift supervisors and personnel on control systems.
• Maintain cleanliness of the station.
• Lead preventative maintenance scheduling and implementation.
• Manage maintenance orders and prioritize requests.
• Plan and execute maintenance activities, including annual outages and major overhauls.
• Establish inventory reorder levels and recommend purchases.
• Calculate daily production and monitor weather and river flow conditions.
• Work after hours as needed, including answering calls.
• Coordinate with contractors for annual servicing of equipment.
• Perform facility tours and ensure compliance with all codes and regulations.
• Operate fish programs according to permits, including fish lifts, tagging, and transportation.
• Maintain intake cleanliness and assist with McNeil Station maintenance as needed.

Non-Essential Job Functions:

• Perform other duties as required.
• Unload railcars at McNeil Plant if needed.
