Omega Foundation Services, Inc is looking for Hydro Excavation Technician(s) to join the team!

Job Summary

The Hydro Excavation Technician is responsible for safely operating hydro excavation equipment to expose underground utilities, perform non-destructive digging, and support excavation projects in a variety of environments. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, equipment maintenance, and delivering high-quality work while minimizing damage to existing infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate hydro excavation trucks and vacuum systems safely and efficiently.
  • Perform non-destructive excavation around underground utilities, pipelines, fiber optics, and other buried infrastructure.
  • Read and interpret utility locates, project drawings, and work orders.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of hydro excavation equipment.
  • Follow all OSHA, DOT, company, and customer safety procedures.
  • Identify potential underground hazards and communicate concerns to supervisors.
  • Set up and maintain safe work zones, including traffic control when required.
  • Assist with potholing, trenching, daylighting, slot trenching, and debris removal.
  • Complete daily job reports, inspection forms, and equipment documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors, utility companies, contractors, and project managers.
  • Respond to emergency excavation requests when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required; CDL (Class A or B) preferred or required based on company policy.
  • Previous hydro excavation, construction, utility, or heavy equipment experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of underground utility locating and excavation practices.
  • Ability to operate vacuum excavation equipment safely.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude for basic equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in confined spaces.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and on‑call schedules as needed.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
