A regional corporation in Alaska is seeking a Hydro-Blaster Helper to assist with cleaning tanks, pipes, and mining equipment using ultra-high pressure tools. Applicants should have a High School Diploma and at least two years of industrial experience. Key responsibilities include compliance with safety policies and operating equipment safely. This is a full-time position with various physical requirements and safety standards.
The Hydro-Blaster Helper works directly with the Blasting crew, safely operating an ultra-high pressure shotgun and flex-lance to clean tanks, pipes, grating, sumps, and various mining equipment. Helpers will also learn, operate and use industrial vacuum units to clean waste and debris.
The work environment characteristics described here represent those encountered while performing the essential functions of this Job. The employee is regularly exposed to airborne particles and outdoor weather conditions; may be exposed to wet/humid conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, and risk of radiation and vibration. Work may occur near moving mechanical parts, in high, precarious places, around toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. Noise levels can be loud. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and may need close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Prolonged standing, walking, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, and occasional sitting and tasting or smelling may be required. Steel-toed boots are required for safety.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; and ability to speak effectively before groups. Participate in daily toolbox meetings and contribute to safety discussions.
Ability to perform basic arithmetic, including units of measure, rates, ratios, and percentages; interpret simple graphs.
Ability to apply common sense, follow written or verbal instructions, and solve problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
Be willing to learn and mentor others. A commitment to safety and stopping work if conditions are unsafe is integral to our team’s operations.
Willingness to perform other duties as needed to help complete projects.
