Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Hydraulic Technician in Waco, TX to install and test hydraulic systems on large vehicle chassis. The role involves assembling hoses, setting pressure, performing torque checks, and integrating electrical connections in a fast-paced shop environment.

You will read schematics, use a variety of tools, and follow safety standards while supporting continuous improvement of installation processes.

Qualifications

• 35 years of experience in hydraulic system installation or equivalent technical training.
• Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics, engineering drawings, and technical manuals.
• General mechanical capability and strong troubleshooting skills.
• Experience operating overhead cranes, jacks, and forklifts.
• Comfortable working in and around large truck chassis; must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and crawl under equipment.
• Ability to use a wide variety of hand and power tools, both electric and pneumatic.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Must be willing to work flexible hours as needed.

Responsibilities

• Install hydraulic components such as PTOs, pumps, valves, cylinders, actuators, reservoirs, filters, hoses, and fittings according to schematics and drawings.
• Fabricate and install mounting hardware and custom brackets for hydraulic components.
• Assemble and install hydraulic hoses, ensuring fittings and connections meet cleanliness and torque standards.
• Conduct system start-up procedures, including pressure testing and flow verification, and set relief valves and flow rates.
• Troubleshoot, document, and resolve hydraulic issues during installation and testing.
• Install related electrical components, including 12-volt valve wiring and 120/240-volt generator and outlet connections.
• Maintain compliance with internal specs, manufacturer guidelines, and customer requirements.
• Maintain accurate documentation, including timecards, installation logs, and test results.
• Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance installation processes or hydraulic designs.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area per safety policies.
• Assist with equipment maintenance, stability testing, and resolving field service issues.
