Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Make changes throughout plant units for safe and efficient operations.
  • Start, stop and operate pumps, compressors, coolers, expanders, chillers within defined parameters.
  • Maintain close communications with control room operators and shift lead.
  • Ensure compliance with Plant Safety regulations including LO/TO, Hot Work, JSA, Confined Space, etc.
  • Train and oversee company and third party personnel as required.
  • Perform troubleshooting on facility equipment.
  • Create accurate work tickets to ensure repairs by maintenance and E&C are timely and accurate.
  • Assist maintenance and E&C in preventive and regular maintenance.
  • Complete all PMs and Safety PMs (Weekly/Monthly/Yearly).
  • Perform duties of a first responder in spill or emergency situations.
  • Conduct general housekeeping of facilities and equipment.
  • Represent the Company in contacts with public or emergency officials.
  • Perform governmental compliance activities (DOT, State Agencies, EPA, OSHA).
  • Actively participate in safety programs and initiatives.
  • Participate in development of O&M Procedures and work plans.
  • Complete all documentation and record keeping.
  • Work in compliance with Company standards and tariffs.
  • Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence.
  • Complete all other assigned duties.

Job description

What We Are Looking For

Performs various operational duties throughout the Houston Central Natural Gas Complex to insure safe and efficient operation of all associated Plant equipment and processes while communicating plant operational conditions to control room operators and Shift Team Leads. Carries out various task both directed and repetitive as delegated by Operation Supervision. Performs minor maintenance activities as qualified. Shift work is required.

What You Will Do

Job responsibilities are as follows:

  • Make changes throughout the various Plant units as necessary for safe and efficient plant operations.
  • Start, stop and operate pumps, compressors, coolers, expanders, chillers, etc. within defined operating parameters.
  • Maintain close communications with the control room operators and shift lead to insure their awareness of all operational conditions both normal and abnormal throughout the plant.
  • Insure compliance by all parties with all Plant Safety regulations including LO/TO, Hot Work, JSA, Confined Space, Etc.
  • Train and oversee company and third party personnel as required (e.g., personnel in progression, transport drivers, contractors, visitors ...).
  • Perform trouble shooting on facility equipment.
  • Create accurate work tickets to see that repairs conducted by the maintenance and E&C departments are timely and accurate.
  • Assist the maintenance and E&C department as needed in the performance of preventive and regular maintenance of Plant equipment.
  • Complete all Weekly, Monthly and Yearly PMs and Safety PMs.
  • Perform duties of a first responder in spill or emergency situations.
  • Conduct general housekeeping of all facilities and equipment.
  • Represent the Company during contacts with public officials/emergency officials.
  • Perform governmental compliance activities (DOT, State Agencies, EPA, OSHA, etc.) Identify, report and correct safety and environmental concerns.
  • Actively participate in safety programs and initiatives.
  • Participate in the development of O&M Procedures, Site Specific Procedures, project scopes and work plans.
  • Complete all applicable documentation and record keeping.
  • Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, regulatory, and Company tariff requirements.
  • Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence.
  • Complete all other assigned duties.

Job level will commensurate with experience and knowledge.

What You Need
Education
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
Certifications, licenses, registrations
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
  • May be required to achieve and maintain certifications as required to perform job duties applicable to the job classification.
  • Completion of any site specific technical training may be applicable.
Competencies, skills, and abilities
  • Must respond to, and address, callouts and emergencies during and after regular business hours including after dark hours.

  • The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.
  • Basic computer skills. (Send and receive email, create and maintain various records, manipulate motor controlled valves and perform other tasks involved in normal DCS operation of the Plant.)
  • Ability to accept supervision / direction and work effectively & co-operatively with other people.
  • Familiarity with and / or ability to learn to use basic hand tools and learn to perform preventative and basic maintenance on terminal equipment.
  • Cryogenic Expansion, Petroleum transportation, storage and distribution, electrical and or mechanical.
  • Job level commensurate with knowledge, skills and experience.
Working conditions / Physical demands
  • Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions.
  • Must be able to frequently, climb to and work from elevated platforms, ladders, stairwells, walkways, etc.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds in awkward positions, and ability to lift 50 pounds from floor to waist (occasional).
  • May work in low-lit areas.
Preferred Experience, Skills and Knowledge (above the minimum requirements; not required, but advantageous in this position)
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, P&IDs, and other diagrams.
  • Knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of flammable gases, liquids and high and low pressure systems.
  • Knowledge in analyzing, adjusting, and making minor repairs on pumps and other related equipment.
