Job description

Monitor and maintain operations by coordinating plant rates with customer requirements, performing start-up and shutdown activities as needed, along with preventative and corrective maintenance. Interface through electronic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems to control a continuous steam methane reformer process to meet flow and purity requirements of our customers. Maximize efficiencies, minimize downtime, and ensure the integrity of the hydrogen product. Be proactive and innovative in solutions to ensure efficient operation and a safe work environment. Plant operators work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule based on the DuPont Schedule.

Position Accountabilities

1. Manipulate hydrogen plant controls to meet product specifications and production requirements.
2. Adjust plant control variables, monitor, and manage process equipment parameters to maintain efficient steady-state operation.
3. Acquire knowledge of steam methane reformers and related equipment; understand plant water chemistry to ensure proper operations.
4. Develop troubleshooting skills, evaluate process upsets, and take corrective actions.
5. Interpret Piping & Instrument Drawings to understand process operations and aid in troubleshooting.
6. Demonstrate mechanical aptitude, evaluate equipment performance, perform routine calibration and maintenance, and maintain records.
7. Prioritize safety, maintain a clean work area, eliminate hazards, and follow safety policies including work permits and lockout/tagout procedures.
8. Participate in maintenance and updating of plant equipment and work instructions.
9. Maintain production records, logs, and inspection forms.
10. Communicate effectively with team members, vendors, safety, and management teams.
11. Troubleshoot operational issues and alarms, collaborating with team members and Remote Operations Center (ROC).
12. Assist in starting/stopping plants safely based on conditions and business needs.
13. Optimize plant performance by tracking data and implementing best operating practices.

Preferred qualifications include experience in industrial plant operations or maintenance, military service, basic math skills, computer proficiency, strong interpersonal skills, understanding of electrical hazards, physical ability to perform duties, and operating equipment like forklifts and lifts.
