Job summary

The Tennessee Department of Children's Services (DCS) seeks a Web Accessibility Consultant to support the creation, remediation, testing, and maintenance of accessible documents and forms.

The consultant will ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1/2.2 Level AA, PDF/UA requirements, and DCS standards, while preserving content and policy intent. This is a hybrid role based in Nashville, serving the policy team and providing both automated and manual accessibility checks.

Qualifications

• Experience applying WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA to electronic documents.
• Ability to remediate PDFs to WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA and PDF/UA.
• Advanced MS Word accessibility skills (styles, headings, lists, tables).
• Proficiency in creating accessible fillable PDF forms and form fields.
• Experience with automated accessibility checkers and manual testing.

Responsibilities

• Review and remediate DCS policy and protocol documents for accessibility.
• Create accessible Word sources and convert to accessible PDFs.
• Remediate PDFs to meet WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA and PDF/UA.
• Create/remediate accessible electronic forms with proper labels and tab order.
• Conduct automated and manual accessibility testing of documents.
• Perform QA reviews of remediated documents before publication.
