Job summary

Nelnet, Inc. is seeking a Vulnerability Operations professional to lead the design and continual improvement of our vulnerability management program.

You will partner with SOC, Offensive Operations, and other teams to identify risks and drive timely remediation in support of Nelnet’s security goals. Requirements include a bachelor’s in cyber security or information systems, 2+ years in vulnerability management, experience with Rapid7/Qualys/Tenable, MECM, EDR tools, cloud platforms

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in cyber security or information systems or equivalent work experience.
• Cyber security certifications (GIAC GSEC, GCED, GEVA, CompTIA Security+, CySA+, ISC2 CISSP) are a plus.
• 2+ years in vulnerability management or security operations.
• Experience with vulnerability management solutions (Rapid7, Qualys, Tenable).
• Experience with patching tools (Microsoft MECM).
• Experience with EDR administration (Defender, CrowdStrike, Carbon Black, Cortex XDR, Tanium).
• Strong understanding of cloud hosting platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Proficient in Python.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and continuous improvement of vulnerability management strategy.
• Stay up to date on emerging threats and vulnerabilities and adapt the program.
• Oversee configuration and maintenance of vulnerability scanning tools.
• Analyze vulnerability data to assess risk and recommend mitigations.
• Develop and implement remediation plans with tech teams and the business.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritize remediation and timely resolution.
