Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology seeks a Unix and Linux Team Lead to guide a skilled team delivering compliant Unix and Linux services for NIH CIT Hosting and Storage Services. It blends strong people leadership with technical strategy, ensuring reliable operations, service delivery, and project execution.

The hybrid role requires 3 days on site in Bethesda, MD, and a Public Trust clearance with onsite fingerprinting.

Qualifications

BS/BA and 6+ years of IT-related experience.
Experience overseeing a portfolio of technology services and leading a technical team’s day-to-day execution.
People management including recruiting, hiring, performance management, training, and mentoring a team of engineers.
Experience leading technical projects and initiatives from planning through successful delivery.

Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day oversight for your team by delegating and prioritizing task execution, resolving roadblocks, and ensuring efficient delivery of Unix and Linux services.
Own and develop the technical strategy and vision for the service catalog, rallying the team to turn the vision into reality.
Collaborate with Project Managers/Scrum Masters to ensure transparent timelines, resources, risk management, and reporting.
Drive continuous improvement to deliver new services and ways of working for future customer demands.
Oversee personnel management including recruitment, training, and mentoring for all team members.
Coordinate incidents with resolution parties and maintain effective stakeholder communication during and after closure.
