Job summary

Committee for Public Counsel Services seeks an experienced attorney to join the Mental Health Litigation Division as a Private Panel Support Attorney. The role provides oversight and support to approximately 260 private panel attorneys and 12,000 clients annually in Civil Commitment and Guardianship matters.

Ideal candidates have five years of law experience, MA bar eligibility, strong writing and advocacy skills, and the ability to travel across Massachusetts.

Qualifications

• Must be eligible to practice law in Massachusetts or be eligible for limited MA practice.
• Minimum five years of legal experience, including at least four years on Mental Health Litigation issues.
• Must have home internet access and reliable transportation statewide.

Responsibilities

• Provide support and advice to private panel attorneys in MHLD proceedings.
• Provide billing support and technical assistance to trial panel attorneys.
• Develop and distribute resources such as practice advisories and pleading templates.
• Assist with performance evaluations and mentor programs for panel attorneys.
• Assist with certification trainings and evaluation of new applicants.
