Job summary

Colorado Department of Transportation in Denver seeks an Engineering-In-Training III, Traffic Construction, to oversee multiple construction projects ensuring compliance with plans, specs, and safety standards. You will manage day-to-day construction activities, review contractor submissions, and prepare monthly pay estimates under the guidance of a licensed engineer.

Qualifications

Current enrollment as an Engineer Intern by the Colorado State Board of Licensure for Architects, Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors.
One year of professional experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position.

Responsibilities

Oversee construction operations to ensure compliance with the plans, specifications, and purpose of design.
Ensure conformance to safety best practices by monitoring construction activities, and requesting changes be made when unsafe practices are seen.
Evaluate materials, equipment and systems for their acceptability for incorporation or use in a construction project.
Assist design engineers in constructability reviews.
Apply engineering theories and principles to situations that may not be covered by present design standards, references and codes.
