Job summary

NCCI is seeking a Test Auditor to join our inspections team in the Western U.S. You’ll perform test audits to verify classification of risk and premium calculations, helping ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.

This is a hybrid, home‑based role located in the United States. You may travel up to 30% to conduct on‑site audits with a personal vehicle; you will cover surrounding states for regional coverage. We offer a competitive rewards package and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or minimum 6 years of related work experience.
  • 3+ years of related workers compensation insurance experience.
  • Experience conducting field premium audits, classification inspections, audit reviews, underwriting, or other relevant field tasks.
  • Knowledge of workers’ compensation insurance, Basic Manual, Scopes Manual, and Classification system.
  • Strong analytical, interpretive, and decision‑making skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Time management and project management skills with the ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to provide fact‑witness testimony at administrative and judicial hearings.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, tools, spreadsheets, and content management systems.
  • Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check satisfactory to NCCI.

Responsibilities

  • Review and prioritize test audit assignments and schedules, physical and virtual audits, and inspection with the insured.
  • Conduct pre-audit research to determine scope of the audit, review and analyze records and documents provided by the carrier.
  • Coordinate with the insured and any additional external contacts necessary to facilitate the audit.
  • Issue appointment letters and update all relevant information as it relates to preparation of the audit/inspection.
  • Travel to insured locations, as needed, to conduct on‑site audits and inspections.
  • Conduct audits and inspections of insureds’ operations and business records.
  • Prepare formal written test audit reports analyzing the insured's operations and classification, payroll and other business records, and premium calculation results against the insurer’s premium audit results to identify discrepancies or errors.
  • Respond to questions or disputes regarding the test audit result.
