Job summary

OCLC in Dublin, OH is seeking a hands-on Technical Manager to guide a growing team of software engineers. This player-coach role balances design and coding with coaching, delivery, and reliability in a cloud-native environment.

You will lead full-stack developers (Java backend, React frontend) and cloud engineers, manage hiring, plan roadmaps with Product, and own architecture across AWS, CI/CD, and data pipelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
• 5+ years software development experience, 3+ years in technical leadership.
• Strong coding and system design for distributed services.

Responsibilities

• Lead a cross-functional team of full-stack developers and cloud engineers.
• Hire, onboard, coach, and conduct performance reviews.
• Collaborate with Product Managers to execute roadmaps and staffing.
• Oversee Jira planning, backlog, sprints, and release planning.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership including architecture and reviews.
• Own AWS-based architecture, scalability, security, and cost awareness.
• Establish engineering standards for API design, testing, and reliability.
• Drive CI/CD pipelines, testing strategies, and QA automation.
• Lead ETL and data integration work with Python and data pipelines.
• Coordinate data platform usage in AWS with Snowflake and GA ideas.
• Promote secure-by-default practices and AI-enabled automation.
