Job summary

American Institutes for Research (AIR) seeks a Technical Project Manager to lead technical project planning and execution on client-facing Health, Education, or Workforce projects. Hybrid work with three days per week in AIR’s Virginia office.

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of PM/tech ops experience, strong communication and stakeholder management, and proficiency with PM tools such as Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Project, Planner, and Smartsheet.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT/CS or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant project management, technology, or operations experience.
• Experience using project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Planner, Smartsheet, Jira, or Confluence.
• CAPM certification, or progress toward certification, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical project planning and execution in an agile environment.
• Coordinate amongst competing priorities and track timelines, action items and priorities.
• Maintain accurate project documentation, trackers, dashboards, and status updates.
• Use tools like Jira and Confluence to coordinate projects and lead sprint plans and retrospectives.
• Partner with cross‑functional teams to foster collaboration and smooth execution across projects.
• Provide operational support across budgeting, expense coordination, procurement, and vendor interactions.
• Duties may evolve with changing business needs.
