General Dynamics Information Technology, Inc. is offering a Summer Tax Accountant Internship at our Herndon, VA location. The program runs for 10 weeks, with 40-hour weeks, and targets students pursuing degrees in economics, finance, or accounting. Sponsorship is not available for this role.

You will support tax department strategy, planning and compliance, gain exposure to tax forecasting, and participate in professional development within a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an associate's, bachelor's or master's degree program in economics, finance, accounting or related discipline from a US-based college or university
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong planning and organizational skills
• Basic understanding of Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Excel, Teams)
• Experience using Excel data analysis, pivot tables, VLOOKUPs and charts could be beneficial

Responsibilities

• Participates in tax forecasts including liability, cash tax and effective tax rate
• Identify/Support tax saving or risk mitigating opportunities
• Analyze and prepare journal entries including income and transactional taxes
• Research jurisdictional tax law and maintain knowledge of tax laws affecting the company
• Learn how to leverage new tools and technologies
