Seneca Resources in Richmond, VA is seeking a Staff Engineer to provide engineering support for solid-fuel combustion across coal and biomass boilers. This hybrid role requires 8+ years of experience and allows an Engineering PhD to substitute for up to 5 years of experience.

You will collaborate with fuel procurement, review contracts, advise on fuel quality, support NOx, SOx, PM and Hg controls, and engage with industry suppliers to ensure compliance and performance across the fleet.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of engineering experience; Engineering PhD can substitute for up to 5 years for related projects approved by leadership.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for solid fuel combustion for coal and biomass.
• Engage fuel procurement team and guide fuel contract renewals.
• Review fuel contracts and set fuel quality specs and reject limits for future contracts.
• Guide fuel constituents' impact on equipment and APC performance (NOx, acids, PM, Hg).
• Support sootblowing systems for coal and biomass boilers.
• Understand PJM dispatch cost calculations to assist regulatory commitments.
• Support Wet FGDs, Dry Scrubbers, Hg control systems and be SME for potential DSI systems.
• Engage with industry suppliers and manufacturers.
• Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
