Job summary

Chemours is seeking a Senior Energy Engineer – Combustion Systems. The role is based in Wilmington, DE or remote near US manufacturing sites, with travel expected across the region.

You will lead combustion-system optimization, troubleshoot operations, and guide startup activities. You will design and implement energy-saving projects, support global energy networks, and conduct trainings for internal clients.

Qualifications

  • Accredited degree in mechanical or chemical engineering (BS, MS, or PhD).
  • 5–10 years of relevant post‑degree work experience.
  • Expertise in fired equipment and combustion controls.
  • Experience with industrial and preferably chemical processes.
  • Experience in operational troubleshooting and improvement.
  • Valid passport and ability to sustain travel rate ~25% (mostly domestic).

  • Provide engineering expertise for chemical-process combustion systems including boilers, process heaters, process dryers, thermal oxidizers, and related operations.
  • Analyze system performance and develop improvement opportunities.
  • Troubleshoot operation and guide corrective actions.
  • Support specification, design, installation, commissioning, and startup activities.
  • Identify and drive energy projects and variable-cost savings initiatives.
  • Provide support to global energy networks and climate goal teams.
  • Develop and deliver webinars and in-person training to internal client groups.

Role Overview

Senior Energy Engineer – Combustion Systems, full‑time at Chemours. Reports to the Engineering Senior Manager and will work in Wilmington, DE or remotely near manufacturing sites across the U.S.

Location

Wilmington, DE headquarters or eligible remote sites in the mid‑Ohio Valley, Tennessee Valley, Carolinas, or Gulf Coast regions. Remote, on‑site and travel‑flexible assignments may apply.

  • Experience with industrial utility systems (steam, condensate, compressed gas, water).Experience with industrial water treatment for boiler and cooling tower systems.
  • Experience with HVAC systems within production support facilities.
