Furst-McNess Company in Rockford, IL is hiring a Staff Accountant to support daily accounting operations and ensure accuracy of financial records. The role includes journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close, with collaboration across departments.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance and 2+ years of Staff Accountant experience, with strong Excel skills and GAAP knowledge. Hybrid work: 1 remote day per week, 4 in-office, starting 7-8am.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 2+ years of Staff Accountant experience required.
• Knowledge of general ledger, reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close, and financial reporting.
• Experience with accounting software or ERP systems.
• Strong Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and routine accounting transactions.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies.
• Assist with month-end close and supporting schedules.
• Prepare financial reports, analyses, and variance explanations.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and compliance with GAAP.
• Support audits by gathering documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues.
• Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and controls.
• Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inventory.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
