Job summary

Farmer Mac is seeking a Staff Accountant - Accounting Operations to handle day-to-day accounting tasks and support close processes. You will prepare journal entries, maintain subledgers, and perform reconciliations to ensure policy compliance.

You will work with the Senior Manager and the Accounting team, contributing to timely financial reporting and cross-team collaboration in a flexible Washington, DC-based role.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of accounting experience in public or private settings.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
• Candidate should be pursuing CPA licensure or certification.
• Experience in financial services is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries for loans, investments, debt, derivatives and other items per policy.
• Reconcile subledgers and general ledger accounts; resolve reconciling items.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with accurate documentation.
• Assist with quarterly and annual SEC filings and disclosures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve processes.
