Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Software Tester to support a critical USCG system. The role blends expert software testing, verification, and documentation across virtual, remote, and physical environments from Alexandria, VA in a hybrid setup.

You will verify patches and OS upgrades, troubleshoot defects, and coordinate with vendors for advanced support while ensuring testing metrics meet SLAs and KPIs. The position requires active clearance and strong collaboration.

Qualifications

• Expert-level software testing, quality verification, and hands-on application validation services.
• Experience testing patches, updates, and OS upgrades.
• Remote server/workstation testing administration to maintain verification capabilities.
• Troubleshooting defects within software applications and IT equipment components.
• Creating, updating, and tracking defects, bug logs, and testing requests in enterprise systems.
• Staging, configuring, deploying, testing, and taking down test baselines on workstations.
• Collaboration with vendors for Tier 4 support and escalation.
• Ability to report testing metrics against SLAs and KPIs.
• Familiar with Incidents/Requests processing in ServiceNow.
• PowerShell scripting to install, modify, or monitor software/services.
• Familiar with ACAS toolset and related testing docs.
• Experience creating and editing Work Instruction Guides.

Responsibilities

• Verify system performance across virtual, remote, and workstation platforms.
• Ensure IT environments are thoroughly evaluated during testing.
• Test and validate software patches and upgrades; execute remote testing administrations.
• Troubleshoot, isolate, and resolve reported defects; maintain remote testing support.
• Provide testing support during organizational relocations and system moves.
• Create and track software testing requests from initiation to remediation.
• Stage, configure, test, and take down test workstations and testing equipment.
• Support Tier 3 escalation; coordinate with outside vendors for Tier 4 support.
• Share testing knowledge and QA guidance with junior team members.
• Report team and individual testing performance against SLAs and KPIs.
