Job summary

American Express is seeking an Engineer to perform hands-on software development and testing in a hybrid environment. The role focuses on agile team collaboration, writing code, defining APIs, and participating in sprints.

You will refactor code, improve practices, use visualization tools, and explore new technologies to accelerate solutions. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of software development experience, with mainframe knowledge a plus.

Qualifications

Experience with mainframe technologies is a plus.
Ability to work in a hybrid onsite/remote setup.

Responsibilities

Perform hands-on software development and testing.
Act as a core member of an agile team, performing user story analysis, story elaboration, design, and development of software applications.
Write code, define API specifications, participate in code reviews, and conduct tests as part of ongoing sprints.
Perform continuous refactoring of code and drive improvements in code structure and best practices.
Use visualization techniques and other tools to accelerate problem-solving.
Identify opportunities to adopt new technology and contribute to continuous development.
Engage in daily work that is primarily code-centric (90+% of time).
