Job summary

The Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) in Washington State is seeking a CPS/FAR Social Service Specialist 2-3 In Training (SSS3) for Port Angeles. The role conducts investigations of child abuse, assesses safety, and builds family-centered service plans with a focus on protecting children in home environments.

This hybrid position requires visiting homes, interviewing families, and documenting cases.

Qualifications

• Experience in child welfare or related social services.
• Ability to interview children and parents to assess safety.
• Knowledge of risk assessment and safety planning.
• Familiarity with documentation systems (FAMLINK).

Responsibilities

• Investigate, assess, and evaluate reports of child abuse.
• Provide ongoing safety and risk assessment for families.
• Prepare cases for court proceedings.
• Document case activities in FAMLINK.
• Coordinate services to protect children in home environments.

Skills

Five years of paid social service

Ability to assess risk and safety

Interviewing children and parents

Education

Bachelor’s degree in social services, human services, behavioral sciences, or any degree which includes 30 semester or 45 quarter credits in a Social Service discipline

Master's degree in social services, human services, behavioral sciences, or any degree which includes 30 semester or 45 quarter credits in a Social Services discipline AND completed practicum
