Job summary

Cornell University is seeking a Software Engineer III for a hybrid role in Ithaca, NY. The candidate will design, develop, and maintain web-based applications for CLO and related services, working across cloud-based infrastructure and APIs.

Requirements include Java, Spring, SQL, and experience with containers, cloud platforms, CI/CD, Linux, and Agile workflows. Strong collaboration and communication are essential in a multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3+ years of professional experience on substantial software projects with engineers.
• 3+ years of experience with object-oriented programming and modern web apps building APIs, services, and UIs.
• 3+ years of experience with Java, Spring, and SQL; writing and optimizing complex queries.
• Experience with containers (Kubernetes or Docker) and cloud platforms (AWS or Azure).
• Experience with CI/CD, Linux, Git, and Agile/Scrum workflows.
• Experience with Jira and project management tools; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain complex web-based applications and services.
• Participate in the design and evolution of CLO infrastructure and hosting platforms.
• Serve as a technical liaison for infrastructure alignment with CLO objectives.
• Develop web-based systems, APIs, and databases using Java, Spring, Postgres, and related tech.
• Stay current on software development best practices and processes.
