Job summary

Philadelphia Insurance Companies, part of the Tokio Marine Group, seeks a Sr. Underwriter I to join the Public Service team. The hybrid role focuses on underwriting large property and casualty risks with strong analytical, communication and collaboration skills.

The position requires 5+ years in production underwriting for Commercial Package, CPCU/AU coursework preferred, and willingness to travel within the assigned territory to agency calls.

Qualifications

• College Degree or equivalent experience, plus CPCU, AU or other designation-related coursework.
• 5+ years of underwriting experience with a carrier handling Commercial Package business in a production-focused underwriting capacity.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to be detail oriented in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to travel in assigned geographic territory on agency calls.

Responsibilities

• Underwrites large, complex property & casualty (P&C) insurance risks.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of loss experience and business conditions of key accounts.
• Participates on a team of underwriters and other staff to meet needs of large multi-product customers.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of products, services, priorities and target markets.
• May accompany marketing representative or represent the company on appointments in territory and industry events.
• May develop and maintain relationships with agency representatives.
• May negotiate new and renewal business in partnership with Marketing to drive profitable growth.
• Support profit improvement initiatives in partnership with Marketing Department.
