Job summary

MetLife is seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to modernize, reimagine, support, and retire mainframe applications. The role focuses on COBOL/JCL/CICS/DB2 and advancing modernization with AI-enabled practices, while collaborating across teams to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable technology solutions for customers worldwide.

The position is hybrid, with a minimum in-office presence of three days per week, and offers a salary range of $105,000 to $140,000 plus incentives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in CS/IT/Engineering.
• Strong mainframe development experience including COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2 or similar.
• Ability to work effectively across technical and business teams while managing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead modernization and decommissioning initiatives for mainframe applications.
• Create and maintain batch processes to support business functions and reliability.
• Oversee code reviews, automated testing, and production support.
• Drive platform currency, security, and debt reduction across applications.
• Develop applications using mainframe languages and GitHub Copilot with human-in-the-loop processes.
• Coordinate with product owners, architects, analysts, operations, and partners.
