Job summary

Mercer, part of Marsh, is seeking a Sr Health Actuarial Consultant to join our Health Actuarial and Financial Consulting team in a hybrid role requiring three days in the office. You will lead client engagements on health benefits strategies, including financial projections, plan design optimization, and renewal negotiations.

You will serve as the primary financial contact for clients, supervise analysts, and help drive data-driven decisions using Excel, SAS, and other tools.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in actuarial science, math, statistics, finance, economics, or a related field required.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in actuarial field with health and benefits consulting experience
• Proven progress toward ASA designation
• Client facing experience
• Strong analytical skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office—Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Lead routine client engagements focusing on health benefits strategy, financial projections, plan design optimization and renewal negotiations.
• Review analyses by junior staff to ensure actuarial soundness and develop them.
• Use AI and technology-enabled tools to enhance analysis and delivery.
• Perform and review complex analyses and cost projections using Excel, SAS, and other software.
• Draft and review client reports or presentations to summarize findings and recommendations.
