Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Santa Clara, CA is seeking a Senior Energy Market Optimization Engineer to combine advanced mathematical modeling, software development, and power system expertise to optimize electricity markets and grid operations.

You will help utilities and market operators improve market efficiency, integrate renewables, and maintain reliable power delivery in real time while collaborating with a global team on cutting-edge optimization technologies.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of experience with optimization modeling tools and solvers (AMPL, AIMMS, CPLEX, or Gurobi).
Minimum 3 years of experience programming with high-level languages.
Minimum 3 years of experience working in Linux or AIX environments.
Minimum 2 years of experience developing power system applications for electricity markets.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering focused on electricity markets or related field.

Responsibilities

Analyze customer requirements and propose effective technical solutions.
Design, develop, test, and enhance optimization applications for power systems and electricity markets.
Build and integrate software components using industry best practices.
Research and implement advanced mathematical models and numerical optimization methods.
Support software releases and resolve technical challenges.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on global customer projects.
Participate in customer discussions and provide technical expertise.
Contribute to continuous improvement of software development processes and documentation.
