Job summary

Ampcus Inc. is seeking a senior electrical engineer in Oakland for a hybrid role with 2 days in the office. This represents a journey-level leadership position within the Electric Engineering department, requiring mastery of complex designs and guidance to teams.

The role supports electric operations, standards, and project delivery across large-scale substations within a collaborative ESC environment. The candidate will lead engineering design, mentor teammates, and coordinate with contractors

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Electrical Engineering (US or equivalent)
• 8 years cumulative experience in electrical engineering and design.
• Experience in multiple large-scale, large budget electric substation projects.
• Experience in substation engineering.
• Skilled in project management.
• Current California PE license.

Responsibilities

• Manage large complex projects and perform engineering analyses, studies, and develop conceptual designs.
• Lead, coach, direct, and assist technical employees and teams on technical issues.
• Assist in finalizing contract project specification and technical evaluation of contract project bids.
• Provide support to other departments in land, permitting, and legal issues.
• Resolve problems of complex scope, with opportunities for creative or non-standard approaches.
• Independently plan work to meet assigned general objectives under general direction.
• Engage with external contacts such as contractors, vendors, and local public agencies, and internal contacts including clients, project team members, and company management.
• May provide technical direction to less experienced team members and exchange information to solve problems with others outside the team.
