Job summary

Leidos is seeking a highly experienced Hybrid SATCOM Chief Engineer to lead the program's architecture, baseline, and lifecycle execution for DoD customers. You will steer an integrated engineering organization across AoA, prototyping, LRIP, production, fielding, and modernization with MOSA-based, open architecture approaches.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical discipline with 12+ years in DoD/national security.
• Experience as Chief Engineer, Lead Systems Engineer, or Technical Director on defense programs.
• Led multidisciplinary teams including internal, subcontractors and industry partners.
• Technical authority across AoA, prototyping, EMD, LRIP, production, fielding and sustainment.
• Strong background in Hybrid SATCOM, C4ISR, networking, and systems integration.
• Experience applying MOSA and open architecture standards (SOSA/OpenVPX/FACE/CMOSS).
• Able to manage baselines, risks, interfaces, and performance with government/stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel; active Top Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Serve as senior technical authority for system architecture and technical baseline.
• Lead engineering governance and strategy across the full acquisition lifecycle.
• Define resilient Hybrid SATCOM architectures with MOSA/open standards.
• Conduct technical trade studies, architecture assessments, and roadmaps.
• Lead reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, PRR) and oversee risk and configuration management.
• Interface with government customers, OEMs, and industry partners.
• Prepare executive briefings and resolve complex technical challenges.
