Qualifications

• 5 years of medical coding experience with ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS.
• Expertise in Medicare Risk Adjustment methodologies.
• Additional AAPC certifications (CPMA, CDEO, etc.) preferred.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM conventions and guidelines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with clinicians and management.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to review medical records and document effectively.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize in a fast-paced setting.
• Demonstrated critical thinking in clinical documentation.
• Experience with medical record review and audits.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM codes from records and data per guidelines.
• Perform chart reviews to ensure accurate capture of diagnoses and HCCs.
• Identify and correct coding discrepancies based on evidence.
• Maintain productivity and quality benchmarks for coding volume.
• Apply CMS-HCC guidelines and participate in audits.
• Collaborate with coders, clinical docs staff, and leadership.
• Provide guidance to junior coders as directed.
